  My 6-year-old daughter spent the night with a horrible toothache and awoke with a swollen face. In the morning we checked Angie's List and a few other sites to find a pediatric dentist for our frightened and suffering little girl. The Elite Smile Center in Kailua Kona and particularly Dr. Michael Jones had favorable reviews so we gave them a call. The whole experience from that moment forward was quite remarkable. I was told that the doctor had no appointments and was placed briefly on hold. Shortly thereafter I was told that the doctor would work us into his schedule since my child was in pain. Upon arriving at the office we found in to be very clean and professional. After a short wait in the lobby (complete with children’s books) I was surprised by the doctor himself greeting my daughter. My stoic child said nothing in reply to his kind questions, which did not faze him at all. He turned to his staff and said, “We need to see this one right away, she is very uncomfortable.” Within minutes x-rays were complete, personal stories were exchanged (because we live in Hawaii this is the most important part), a diagnosis given, and a plan of action agreed upon. My daughter was included and informed along the way in a manner that she could understand. In less than an hour, two teeth had been painlessly removed, follow up care described, prescription written, bill paid (complete with the very-rare-these-days-private-pay discount), and a jubilant child saying thank you. My daughter best summed up the entire experience at bedtime when she said to me, “You know, if I ever need a dentist, I would like to go to him again.” I highly recommend Dr. Michael Jones for his kindness, skill, and bedside manner.
